Through golf history, shaft stiffness
has been defined in simplistic terms of flex and frequency.
But, when developing the new SABER — a new line
of graphite shafts dedicated to total launch control — Royal
Precision engineers turned to a more scientific and comprehensive
process known as Energy Inertia ‘E.I.’ Curves,
an advanced analysis that has never been applied to an
entire line of golf shafts.
In the new process, a golf shaft’s stiffness is measured
in one-inch increments along the entire length of the shaft.
The data is plotted and compared to the stiffness, feel
and flight characteristics of known shafts, and the collected
data is compiled into the E.I Curve. With this comparative
analysis, Royal Precision shaft designers can predict flight
characteristics based on the complete longitudinal stiffness
of a golf shaft. Without question, this comprehensive ‘butt-to-tip’ approach
of E.I. technology has allowed Royal Precision to introduce
Saber golf shafts onto the PGA Tour with initial and immediate
success.
That’s cutting edge!
